Recently, the American Land Title Association (ALTA) hosted a webinar titled: To JV or Not to JV: That Is the Question. Federal Title & Escrow Company has expressed concerns over Joint Ventures in the past, but the focus of this webinar was enforcement. That shouldn’t come as a surprise since the presenter was Jeff Ehrlich, a Partner at McGuireWoods LLP and Former Deputy Enforcement Director at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). McGuireWoods has previously issued a warning over Joint Ventures, and this webinar expands on that statement.
Any agents in a Joint Venture or considering joining a Joint Venture should take a few minutes and either listen to the webinar or download and review a copy of the presentation. The webinar focuses on three potential areas of concern for Joint Ventures: RESPA, State Laws and the CFPA.
